From The Trivial School...

The first school in Nykarleby, The Trivial School, was established by Per Brahe in 1640. The school was later moved to Vaasa. The most important educational establishment of all time was The Teachers' Training College from the years 1873-1971. Nykarleby Gymnasium (secondary school) and the upper level of Nykarleby comprehensive school are now located on the former college premises. There are ten lower level comprehensive schools in the commune. One of these is for Finnish-speaking pupils. There is also a folk high school, The Christian Folk High School, in Nykarleby, operating since 1919.

...to the Swedish School of Arts

The Swedish School of Arts opened in 1983. The progamme offers specialization in paintings, graphic art, sculpture and video and lasts for 3.5 - 4 years. The Swedish School of Arts is situated centrally on the river-bank.
