Welcome to "the town of happiness" and childhood home of famous 19th century author Zacharias Topelius!

The small town of Nykarleby offers a safe and secure environment for children, as well as being a beautiful place to live, which is appreciated by our adult residents. The harmonious atmosphere of the town centre, the diversity of its trade and industry, its well-functioning service sector and other facilities, are set in surroundings of outstanding natural beauty, not least the proximity to the magnificent archipelago.

In contrast to large cities in which one can become involved and stressed by the fast pace of life, we hope that our visitors will relax and enjoy the tranquillity offered by life in a small town. Sitting on a bench by the riverside, or on a rock by the sea, you will soon absorb the piece and harmony which is ever present in Nykarleby.
